We made it! Today we have reached the summit of the world’s largest free-standing mountain; the so called “Roof of Africa”.
It hasn’t been easy, but we’ve pushed on through 5 days of pain, blisters, aching limbs, freezing temperatures and altitude sicknessto reach our goal and make it to the top of the world’s tallest free-standing mountain.
The last night up to the summit was seriously tiring – a lot of the effort was mental as well as physical. It was very cold and the team have been very tired. Our excellent guide led us on this bit slowly to help us acclimatise to the altitude and our sleeping bags got us through a very cold night before our summit attempt. The view is truly spectacular and makes all the hard work completely worth it. But it’s not the only view we hoped to see.
At Youth for Christ, we represent God’s heart. That’s why we demonstrate the love of God, declare who Jesus is, encourage a decision to follow Him and disciple young people to live their lives to the full. Wherever you find young people, there you will find Youth for Christ projects, centres, resources and workers making a difference in communities.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored us on this life-changing trek. You have helped us see more young people’s lives changed by Jesus.
