Under Construction

Under Construction explores what life might be like if your life were a house, more to the point what Jesus would do inside of your house. What work might take place with the foundations, cracks and dry rot that is developing, what he would expect to find in each room as he seeks an all access pass, and what areas of your life would need to come under construction.

At the very heart of this book is our identity, we are made in God’s image, so understanding who God is and how He sees us will better help us understand who we are, how we should make sense of the world around us and how we should therefore live our lives. This is not a passive read but fully interactive with a desire to allow Jesus to renovate our very hearts.

This book can be used as a 12 week discipleship journey within your youth group.

We would recommend purchasing a copy for each member of your group or alternatively you can just teach from the main points.

There is a discussion plan below for each chapter for you to use, with an explanation on how to use the book. Encourage each person to read a chapter before you next meet (but not fill out the questions as you will do that in the session). They will need to bring their books with them to the meeting each week.

A little context:

Before you begin, just for your understanding the first five chapters Jesus will inspect the building, examine the floor boards, look for cracks in the walls, see how much light gets into the house and check the roof for leaks. Once that all looks okay, Jesus will then want to walk around each room in your life. So in chapters 5-11 he will visit the living room, dinning room, study, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. He is then keen to explore exactly what goes on and what you get up to in those rooms. Finally, in chapter 12, he will turn his attention to the garden and set to work on what grows there so the world will see its beauty and share its fruits.
