Looking for a gap year that will help you grow in evangelism and engage with young people?

If the answer is “YEP”, then you’re in the right place!

The Young Evangelist Programme (YEP) is a one year immersive training and ministry experience for 18–25s who feel called to share Jesus with young people. The programme will equip a new generation of evangelists to reach young people nationally, regionally, and locally—combining hands on mission, structured training, and intentional discipleship.

The year will run from September to July, and applications are open for both September 2026 and September 2027.

The heart of the programme is simple: to raise confident, skilled, spiritually grounded evangelists who can communicate the gospel to today’s youth culture with clarity, compassion, and creativity.

What will I be doing?

YEP will see you placed with one of our 55 local Youth for Christ centres to work with their ongoing youth work in schools, churches, communities, and on the streets. Each centre looks completely different, from big teams to small teams and from rural locations to cities. You could be doing one-to-one mentoring with young people, leading assemblies with your team, discipling young people in church youth groups, going to parks and meeting young people where they are at, and delivering lessons in schools. But whatever it is, you will have opportunities to share your faith and tell young people about Jesus.

Evangelism is what we are passionate about and the programme will help you grow in confidence to share the gospel with those you know and do not know. Whether you have shared your faith before or the idea of it worries you; you will be supported, trained, and mentored every step of the way.

During your time you will receive continual training, and guidance, which will equip you to engage with and help transform the lives of young people. If you have a passion for Jesus and a heart for young people, this opportunity is one not to be missed as it’s a great way to serve God for a year and test a calling into youth ministry.

I also feel that this year has opened my eyes to how much God is at work. It has shown me that His work is constant and powerful. I’ve seen more and more young people becoming interested in the Bible, with many of them coming to find us to ask for their own Bible.

This year hasn’t just helped me develop new skills—it has also opened doors to opportunities I never thought I’d have. At the beginning of 2026, someone from one of the youth groups I help with told me about a scholarship for a 0–18s Ministry and Theology course at Bible college, alongside working with Church of England churches. It’s an opportunity I’m incredibly grateful for and one I never imagined would be possible.

The team at Warrington Youth for Christ have supported and encouraged me throughout the whole year, helping me grow both personally and in my faith. I’m especially grateful to Kim, who went from being the youth worker in my school, to someone who has helped me so much during my year out. She has met with me for weekly training, taught me so much, and been a huge source of support throughout the year. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better team to learn from.

I’ve loved every part of this experience, and it’s helped me develop so many new skills. I’m incredibly grateful for everything I’ve learned and for everyone who has supported me along the way. I will miss Youth for Christ a lot but I’m so thankful for my time there and wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Sounds great! But I’d like to do my placement with my home church. Is that possible?

Yes! We would be happy to chat with your church for you to access the training. There would still be other commitments with us but we could work that out with you. Get in contact so we can discuss it more.

I still have some questions…

No problems. Send an email here: nick.blanch@yfc.co.uk

How much does it cost?

We ask for £2000 per person. That can sound like a lot but your church are likely to support you, friends and family can often contribute and even we can help if you’re struggling to raise the right amount. Don’t let it put you off applying!

I’m ready to apply!
